Watch for error messages in the mod manager (some mods override others, usually if they replace/modify the same thing for example, if two mods both try to replace human female complexion 2, only one will work). Been scrounging through the forums and interwebs trying to find a solution and to no avail. Basic mod procedure: delete your old Patch_ModManagerMerge folder, use mod manager to make a new one.

You don't need to do anything else once it's done creating the new Patch_ModManagerMerge folder, the game can read it just fine. Put your old Patch folder back from your backup, delete Patch_ModManagerMerge if you still have one, and run the mod manager again. Did you get any error messages in the mod manager when it was creating the merge folder? Your particular problem in this case is that you renamed the folders don't do that. That said, do you have your meshes set to Ultra? Most appearance mods don't work unless meshes (and sometimes textures) are at Ultra or higher. Restore the Patch folder, that's a required folder for game functions. If a mod tells you to unzip to work, it's probably a very old.
